Share of coins above their EMA

Compares the live price (about once a second) with the EMA computed from closed-bar closes. Tap the left (above) or right (below) part of a bar to list the coins. Coins without enough bars (fewer than 200 for EMA 200) are left out of the denominator.

Near new highs and lows

within 0.5% of the high/low

High zone = price ≥ high × 0.995; low zone = price ≤ low × 1.005. Coins whose range is so tight that both apply are counted in neither. 7 days = the highs and lows of the last 7 days of closed bars plus the 24h high/low (coins listed less than 7 days ago are left out).

RSI(14) distribution

RSI from closed-bar closes (Wilder smoothing, 14 bars). Tap a bar to list the coins in that range. 70 and 30 are conventional reference lines, not trading signals.

24h change distribution

24h change = live price ÷ price 24 hours ago − 1 (Binance's rolling 24 hours, not a calendar day).

Breadth over your session

While the page is open, the advancing share and the share above each EMA are recorded once a minute (stored in this browser only, up to 2,880 points, about two days). Only points with the same universe and timeframe as now are drawn. There are no points while the page was closed; the line simply joins the points on either side.

What this tool does

A market thermometer that shows whether the whole Binance spot USDT market is rising, or only a handful of coins, rather than just Bitcoin. It shows in real time how many coins are up and down over 24 hours, the share of coins above their EMA 20, 50 and 200 on the 1-hour, 4-hour or daily chart, how many coins sit at their 24-hour and 7-day highs and lows, the RSI(14) distribution, and BTC's 24-hour change next to the median coin's. From these numbers it attaches a state label such as "Broad advance", "Narrow advance (led by a few coins)", "Broad decline" or "Mixed". The label is a description based on fixed thresholds, not investment advice.

How it is calculated

Every number is computed from real data that your browser fetches directly from Binance's public API. The universe is the USDT spot markets whose status is TRADING, minus the exclusions listed below, ranked by 24-hour turnover: the top 50, 100 or 200, or all of them. 24-hour prices come once from the all-symbol ticker (/api/v3/ticker/24hr?type=MINI, weight 80) and are then kept live by a single all-market WebSocket stream (!miniTicker@arr, about once a second, only symbols that changed). The all-symbol ticker is fetched again only on a resync, and never more than once every 60 seconds. 24h change = live price ÷ price 24 hours ago − 1; an absolute change under 0.1% counts as flat. EMA, RSI and 7-day highs/lows come from 500 bars per coin (/api/v3/klines, weight 2) fetched once; after that, only the missing bars are fetched when a bar closes (8–23 seconds after the close) and the values are carried forward. The results are stored in this browser and reused when you come back. The EMA is an exponential moving average seeded with the average of the first n closes (weight 2 ÷ (n + 1)); the comparison is the live price against the EMA as of the last closed bar. RSI(14) uses closed-bar closes with Wilder smoothing (seeded with the average of the first 14 changes, then previous × 13 + current, ÷ 14). High zone = price ≥ high × 0.995, low zone = price ≤ low × 1.005; coins that fall in both are counted in neither. The 7-day range = the highs and lows of the last 7 days of closed bars (168 hourly, 42 four-hour or 7 daily bars) plus the 24h high and low. Request budget: the page counts the weight it used in the last 60 seconds and waits rather than exceed 1,200 (20% of Binance's 6,000 per-IP limit), and sends at most 3 bar requests at once and 5 per second. Loading all ~400 coins for the first time costs exchange info 20 + all-symbol ticker 80 + about 800 for bars, spread over a little over a minute; after that each bar close costs only 2 × the number of coins.

Reading each section

Top controls and status line

Pick the timeframe and universe size; "Resync" fetches the all-symbol ticker again (at most once every 60 seconds). The status line shows the live connection ("Binance WebSocket", "Backup WebSocket" or "Polling every 60 s") with the time of the last message, how many coins have bar data and which bar close it is based on, the time left until the next bar close, and the request weight used in the last minute. The address bar keeps the settings, such as ?tf=4h&n=200, so you can share the same view.

Market breadth now

Shows the state label and a sentence explaining why it applies, plus one bar split into advancing, flat and declining coins over 24 hours. Tap any part of the bar to list those coins. The browser tab title also shows the advancing share and the label.

Share of coins above their EMA

The share and count of coins above their EMA 20, 50 and 200 on the chosen timeframe. The left part of each bar is above, the right part below; tap one to list the coins with their distance from the EMA (price ÷ EMA − 1). Price is live and the EMA is as of the last closed bar, so the EMA itself changes only when a bar closes.

Near highs and lows, RSI distribution, change distribution

Counts and shares of coins within 0.5% of their 24-hour or 7-day high (high zone) or low (low zone). The RSI distribution splits closed-bar RSI(14) into ten bins of 10, with the shares at 70 or above and 30 or below shown separately. The change distribution splits the 24h change into eight bins at −10%, −5%, −2%, 0, +2%, +5% and +10%. Tap a bar to list the coins in it.

Breadth over your session

While the page is visible, the advancing share and the shares above EMA 20, 50 and 200 are recorded once a minute and drawn as lines. Only points with the current universe size are drawn, and the EMA lines also require the same timeframe. EMA values are not recorded until bar data covers at least 90% of the universe. The dotted line marks 50%.

Things to know

Frequently asked questions

How is the state label decided?

Advancing share = advancers ÷ (advancers + decliners), with flat coins left out. The first rule that matches, from the top, is used: advancing share 65% or more and the median coin up → "Broad advance"; 35% or less and the median coin down → "Broad decline"; turnover-weighted mean +0.5% or more but advancing share under 50% → "Narrow advance (led by a few coins)"; turnover-weighted mean −0.5% or less but advancing share over 50% → "Narrow decline (led by a few coins)"; otherwise 55% or more → "Advancers ahead", 45% or less → "Decliners ahead", and anything else → "Mixed". No label is shown with fewer than 10 coins. It is a description, not a trading signal.

Which coins are left out?

Stablecoins (USDC, FDUSD, TUSD, USDP, DAI, BUSD, PAX, USDD, USDE, USD1, PYUSD, RLUSD, BFUSD, XUSD, USDS, U and others), fiat-pegged tokens (EUR, EURI, AEUR, GBP, KGST and others), gold-backed tokens (PAXG, XAUT), wrapped or staked copies of another coin (WBTC, WBETH, BETH, BNSOL), tokenized stocks and ETFs (names ending in B with a 0.01 tick size, such as AAPLB, NVDAB, TSLAB, SPYB; BNB and TRB are coins and stay in), leveraged tokens (another coin's name + UP, DOWN, BULL or BEAR), and markets with no trade for over an hour. The 24h ticker and exchange info have no field for the asset type, so the filter uses names and tick sizes. The symbols actually left out are listed live under "Symbols left out" at the bottom of the page.

Does this stay within Binance's rate limits?

Binance's spot API allows 6,000 weight per minute per IP. The page caps itself at 1,200 per minute and limits bar requests to 3 at a time and 5 per second. Live updates arrive over one WebSocket and use no request weight. The status line at the top shows the weight this page used in the last minute. If the exchange answers 429, every request pauses for the time it asks.

Why is the denominator for the EMA shares smaller than the universe?

Coins listed so recently that they lack enough bars on the chosen timeframe (fewer than 200 for EMA 200) have no value for that EMA and are left out. Coins listed less than 7 days ago are also left out of the 7-day high/low counts. Coins whose bars could not be loaded are left out too, and the status line shows how many were loaded as "Bar data n/m".

What does BTC vs the median coin show?

BTC's 24h change sits next to the median of all universe coins' 24h changes. "Coins beating BTC" is the share of universe coins, BTC excluded, whose 24h change is larger than BTC's. It shows in numbers whether BTC is rising alone or other coins are stronger.

Where are my settings and history stored?

The timeframe, universe and open list, the minute-by-minute history (up to 2,880 points) and each coin's EMA and RSI state stay in this browser's storage (localStorage) only and are never sent to a server. The history can be exported to and imported from a JSON file.
